Hunger does not take a holiday.
Even after (almost) all the holiday ornaments are put away, the wrapping paper recycled and the batteries removed from those annoying toys, the Spirit of Sharing and Giving is still busy at Samaritan House.
In the past three months, Samaritan House has seen dramatic demand of our emergency good services from many new clients. In November alone 20 new families requested food assistance; Samaritan House was there to help. They could not have done it without the ongoing support and generosity of the Shepherd’s Gate congregation and our Adopt-A-Bag program.
January is the month designated for Shepherd’s Gate to execute the Adopt-A-Bag campaign. Starting Sunday, January 5th, bags will be available in the Fellowship Hall. While a list of suggested meals is attached, anything that is non-perishable and within expiration date is very much appreciated. Samaritan House can also use sugarfree and low sodium items as well!
We have so much to be thankful for. Being able to give generously is definitely a reason to be grateful. As you shop during this month for your family, please give a thought to the families supported and helped by the Samaritan House.
Bags are due back January 26, 2014.
